Metal variable area flow switches with flow indicator up to 350 bar
Metal variable area flow switches with flow indicator up to 350 bar close an electrical contact at an adjustable oil flow and also show the flow on a scale. They suit oil circuits where the flow must be monitored and also read on site. The normally open reed contact is potential-free: it carries no voltage of its own and can be wired directly to a PLC (programmable logic controller) input. It switches up to 100 VA, about 0.4 A at 250 V AC. Valve or relay coils cause high switch-on currents, so add a contact protection relay for them.
Viscosity compensation keeps the set point valid for oils up to 600 cSt (centistokes) on most models. Brass versions are rated to 250 bar (≈3630 psi), stainless steel versions to 300 bar (≈4350 psi), and one stainless steel model to 350 bar (≈5080 psi). All models have a G 1" female thread and a DIN plug connector.
Mount the switch away from strong magnetic fields and iron parts (about 50 mm for most models), which can disturb the magnetic contact. Use it only for oil without solid or magnetic particles. When the scale is not needed, choose a metal variable area flow switch up to 350 bar. The same devices are also listed under metal variable area flow meters with switch contact.
